On 27th April 2017, the first Mahara Ireland User Group meeting was held in the Institute of Education on the St Patrick’s campus at Dublin City University. Reflect2 The whole-day event attracted around 25 participants from many different Irish institutions and was expertly facilitated by Lisa Donaldson who is managing DCU’s learning portfolio project known as Loop Reflect. The event’s dedicated hashtag (#maharairl) provides a rich account of the various lessons, implementation stories and related presentations shared over the course of the day.

This year’s Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA) conference known as EdTech 2016 (May 26-27) was held in the Law Society Education Building in Dublin. The conference theme was “ReConstituting TEL: Rising to the Challenge”, with three keynote speakers: Audrey Watters, Rhona Sharpe and Mike Feerick.

We are pleased to report that NIDL staff made a major contribution to the conference programme, with a total of around 20 presentations, short Gasta sessions and/or workshops, which equates to approximately 20% of offerings coming from Dublin City University. The conference was very well organised and the general consensus is that this year’s event rates as one of the best EdTech conferences in recent times. Congratulations to everyone involved in making the conference such an outstanding success.
