Leading with Moodle

In April, NIDL staff made a significant contribution to this year’s UK/Ireland Moodle Moot 2014 in Edinburgh. Dr Mark Glynn helped organise the Moot, gave several presentations and along with Dr Eamon Costello chaired a number of sessions. Additionally, Professor Mark Brown gave the opening address which, in keeping with the history of the Corn Exchange, explored the themes of brain dead innovation and moodling up from cottage to corporate.

Valuable CESI Contribution

A valuable contribution was made by DCU staff at the recent conference of the Computers in Education Society of Ireland (CESI) in Galway. Dr Deirdre Butler from St Patrick’s College and Dr Michael Hallissy presented a major keynote address on the new National Digital Learning Strategy. At the end of 2013 a team of staff from St Patrick’s College led by Deirdre produced a Consultative Paper aimed at framing the discussion and development of the Strategy.

In addition, during the CESI conference Dr Enda DonlanDr Mark Glynn, and Professor Mark Brown all made valuable contributions to the programme. Both Edna and Mark Glynn are members of the CESI National Executive.
