Report on the Learning Portfolio in Higher Education: Invitation to Launch of Critical Review of the Literature

Professor Brian MacCraith, The President of Dublin City University (DCU), cordially invites Irish educators, researchers and other stakeholders with an interest in Learning, Teaching and Assessment to the launch of “The Learning Portfolio in Higher Education”.

1.jpgThis report provides a critical review of the literature in a growing area of national and international interest, and is a joint collaboration between the Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice in Education (CARPE) in the DCU Institute of Education and the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL).

Professor Brian MacCraith will open the event and outline DCU’s strong commitment to using new digital technology to promote critically self-reflective learners with 21st Century skills. DCU’s leadership in “Assessment for Learning” and the effective pedagogical use of learning portfolio in higher education was further recognised in January 2018 with an invitation to become an official Mahara supporter.

The Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, TD, will formally launch the report. Guests and attendees will also have an opportunity to briefly hear from the authors on the current status of the literature in the field, and a hard copy of “The Learning Portfolio in Higher Education” will be available at the end of the launch. Light refreshments will also be served.

Following the launch an open access PDF version of the report will downloadable from both the CARPE and NIDL websites. At this stage we have yet to confirm whether the launch will be recorded or lived streamed but an update and any relevant web links will be provided closer to the event.
